Your marketing is worth nothing in your prospect’s head. Literally zero.
That’s because nobody believes you when you talk about yourself.
You say your product is high quality, your service is fast, your team is great.
Your prospect reads that and shrugs. Of course you would say that, it’s your business.
But when a past customer says it, everything changes.
That’s the whole game with reviews and testimonials.
I go looking at big outdoor brands a lot, and every so often one of them does something worth stealing. Pergolux is one of those cases, so I’m sharing it straight.
One simple written sentence moves from your mouth to someone else’s, and suddenly it counts. A stranger who just landed on your site trusts another buyer a hundred times more than they’ll ever trust your marketing.
Think about it. Outdoor living is almost always a big purchase: 10k, 20k, sometimes 50k or 100k. People are scared to get it wrong.
A positive review takes a lot of that fear away. People read it like someone like me already did this, and they’re happy.
That’s what turns a maybe into a yes, and it does it while you’re not even in the room.
What Pergolux does differently#
I want to really point out Pergolux here. They are masters of collecting and distributing customer reviews, and it has a huge effect on their global sales (for all the Pergolux people on my list reading this, you really rock at this).
They don’t just collect a few reviews and forget about them. They put them to work everywhere they’re present.
They built a dedicated reviews page with 5,500+ reviews and testimonials sitting in one place, doing the convincing for them. I suggest you go look at it.
They stacked up Trustpilot too, because that’s where new prospects go to check if you’re real. In the UK alone they already have 300+ reviews there.
They also collect reviews on Google, so the proof shows up the second someone searches their brand name or their product.
And they use all of this social proof on social media and in their advertising. So one happy customer is actually working for them in five places at once, for years to come.
In the AI era, a video testimonial works even better, since written reviews can be faked, especially for smaller companies. A face on camera, thanking you by name for the installation behind them, will attract a larger audience and build more credibility and trust than anything else you can put on a page.
How to get more of them#
If you want to be like Pergolux, ask every happy customer to write you one on Google or Trustpilot, right after the install.
Make it a step in the process, not a favor. Send them a text, leave them a personal card when your team leaves the site, or call them a week later to check in.
Then put every review to work on the pages where people hesitate: product pages, next to your free quote button, inside your quotes, in your emails, on social media, and in your ads.
Reuse the best ones everywhere. One great review is a social post, a homepage line, and a customer testimonial in your next project proposal.
