Leon's newsletter Issue 03

Your website is a brochure. It should be a salesperson.

Most outdoor living websites have a gallery, an About page, and a contact form. Leon on why that's a brochure, not a salesperson, and the four-question test that shows whether yours is costing you leads.

Two websites compared: a static brochure site with a photo gallery and a contact form but no price, and a phone showing a configurator with the product, options, and a visible price.

Most outdoor living websites have a photo gallery, an “About Us” page, and a contact form.

That’s a brochure, not a salesperson.

Here’s what your buyer actually does.

They visit your site at 9pm after putting the kids to bed, browse the photos, look for a price, can’t find one so they fill out the contact form and wait.

Three days later you call them back and by then they’ve already talked to your competitor who gave them a number on the spot.

Try this#

Pull up your own website on your phone right now and ask yourself four questions:

  1. Can a buyer find a price range within 60 seconds?
  2. Can they tell you what they want without calling first?
  3. Does the site load fast on mobile?
  4. Is your phone number visible without scrolling?

If you said “no” twice, your website is losing leads every night you sleep.

Most businesses do a spring refresh by adding new project photos. Which is fine… but a prettier gallery doesn’t answer the one question every buyer has: “How much does it cost?”

When buyers can’t find the answer on your site, they go find someone whose website lets them.

Businesses that already nailed this#

I found a few examples of businesses that already nailed this:

  • Nordin, pergola business from Lithuania
  • Outdoor Modular Space, garden room business from the UK
  • Garden Spirit, pergola business from Czech Republic

And here’s the thing.. spring is here. Inquiries are picking up.

Which means the quoting hell is starting too. Every lead needs a price. Every price takes time. Your team is buried before June even arrives.

But when your website does the job first, buyers arrive already knowing the price, already having designed their product, already serious.

Your inquiry form stops saying: “What is the price?”

And starts saying: “When can you install?”

That’s the difference between a brochure and a salesperson.

A 3D configurator is actually a virtual salesperson. It explains your product options and prepares the quote. But 24/7 and in 60 seconds. Check out 3D configurators here.
