Sunhouse makes winter gardens in Marchtrenk, in Upper Austria. The company started in 1970. They plan the rooms, build them, and fit them themselves.
A winter garden is built to fit one house, so every job starts with the same questions. How big is it? What roof? What colour? Answering them takes a call, and often a visit.
The configurator asks them on the website instead. First the buyer picks the product line. There is a glass garden, a summer garden, two winter gardens, and a terrace roof. Then comes the roof: glass, an aluminium panel, polycarbonate, or no roof at all. The room can lean on the house or stand free. The buyer sets the width, the depth and the height at the roof edge, in metres. Next is the frame colour, like anthracite grey or light grey. An awning can go over or under the glass. The front and the two sides can be glazed. When it looks right the buyer adds it to a request, and sales gets the exact spec.
